Finding His Own Beat

The June edition cover story of Uniquely You Magazine is of Kyree Lisbon. On the Southeast Side of Canton, in a home filled with the steady love of grandparents Ollie and Tina, a quiet boy named Kyree Lisbon used to sit alone with his tablet, lost in a world few could enter. Diagnosed with autism in 2017, Kyree struggled with discipline, social connection, and finding his place.

Today, at just 12 years old, that same boy steps onto stages, bongos in hand, drums beneath his fingers, keyboards waiting for his touch: and he shines. Kyree is a seventh grader, a percussionist, a fisherman, and proof that the right rhythm can change everything. This is the story of how a drum didn't just teach him music. It taught him how to live out loud.
