Our Big Announcement!

The EN-RICH-MENT Drumline and Members of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps at Party in the Plaza, 2023

We're very excited because we've got a big announcement to make. Over the course of the last twelve months, the Bluecoats and EN-RICH-MENT organizations have been working on a big project. We're excited to announce that the two organizations have restructured to form an affiliation that creates a spectrum of programming that will expand access to music, arts, and life-skills classes in our community.

Bluecoats, founded in 1972 creates performing arts experiences that inspire, educate, and promote excellence as they enrich the lives of young people, and those who encounter their art. This organization has become renowned worldwide, as the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps has become synonymous with excellence and creative innovation in the marching arts.

EN-RICH-MENT was founded in 2012 by Ms Betty Smith who continues to spearhead the program in every aspect. This organization is much more than music, as it provides free access to a diverse mix of fine arts classes, mentorship, educational content, and performance opportunities. Their fine arts programming persists all year round and services hundreds of youth in the Stark area.

These non-profits have come together to align their programs and operations, and continue their mission to inspire youth, offer arts education, and build a community of young professionals through artistic experiences.

As part of this affiliation, Betty Smit will continue serving as the Executive Director of EN-RICH-MENT, and will also join the Executive Team of the Bluecoats organization. Mike Scott and Genevieve Geisler, the CEO and CFO/COO of Bluecoats, will assume executive officer roles within EN-RICH-MENT. All three will also serve as non-voting members on each organization’s board of directors. Furthermore, both organizations will appoint Affiliated Directors to each other's boards, and an Advisory Board will be established to provide further community leadership and stewardship of the EN-RICH-MENT organization. Each organization will continue to operate as a separate 501(c)3 non-profits.
